MOST heteros thought Kathy and Paris Hilton were the perfect choices to be grand marshals of the Gay Pride Parade in Los Angeles this weekend. But the gay, bisexual and transgendered people in the L.A. area are not so happy. Previous parade grand marshals like Jennifer Tilly and Cyndi Lauper had (and have) a long and lovingly supportive relationship with the gay community. But the Hiltons have "done squat for the LGBT community," according to the L.A. Independent. In the first season of "Simple Life," when Nicole Richie said it would be hot to see two guys make out, Paris made a face as if she'd smelled something awful and said, "Ewwwww!" Dan Berkowitz, a member of the West Hollywood Lesbian & Gay Advisory Board, said, "My jaw dropped when I heard [of the Hiltons' selection]. What they have to do with gay pride in West Hollywood or anywhere else is utterly beyond me." Radio talk-show host Charles Karel Bouley II wrote in the Advocate: "[Paris] is whiny, self-indulgent and self-absorbed, and her only claim to fame is that she's a party girl who has had great Internet sex. Wait, maybe she is the perfect role model for gay pride."
