"Kill Bill" director Quentin Tarantino, 42, and Shar Jackson, 28 — the mother of Britney Spears spouse Kevin Federline's two children — spent the holiday weekend together in Las Vegas. On Saturday, they dined at Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel, where they were "holding hands and acting like a couple," a source tells Us Weekly. After dinner, they caught comedy show Beacher's Madhouse and were "very touchy," says another witness. Then at 4 a.m., they ate pizza and pancakes with a group of people at the Rainbow Bar & Grill. Jackson told the magazine that she and Tarantino are just "friends" and were in Sin City celebrating her mother's birthday.
GOTTA LET IT BURN
USHER learned a valuable lesson last weekend: Beware of nightclubs offering freebies. The pop superstar spent the holiday weekend in St. Tropez at Giorgio Armani's house after attending the men's shows in Milan. Usher was coaxed out of Armani's lavish lair after a club called Pa paguyo offered him VIP tables and champagne in exchange for his presence. When he stopped by Sunday night, he was promptly presented with several bottles of Cristal, which, according to a friend, Usher "did not order or even drink." Unfortunately, after the singer left, Armani exec Wilfred Rosado was stuck with a whopping $10,000 bill
SHOULDN'T HAVE EXHALED IN EVERYBODY FACE
TERRY McMillan, author of "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" who's divorcing her husband Jonathan Plummer, has an ally in fellow novelist Brenda Stone Browder. Browder, who wrote "On the Up and Up," sent a press release saying: "It's unfortunate to learn that Terry McMillan has joined the forces of women who have been deceived by a partner living 'on the down low.' " (Living "on the down low" is a term used by men who secretly experiment with homosexuality.) McMillan claims in her divorce that Plummer's actually gay and married her to get his green card.
THEY BELONG TOGETHER
MADONNA and Mariah Carey performed at London's Live 8 concert urging debt forgiveness for African nations — but Her Madgesty can't seem to forgive Carey for some unknown slight.
Our backstage snitch overheard Madonna telling an underling that she wanted to be kept "far away" from Carey during the star-studded extravaganza in Hyde Park over the July Fourth weekend.
"Just let me know when she leaves her trailer, because that's when I'm outta here," Madonna seethed, according to our intrepid earwitness. "I want to be kept as far away from her as possible."
I WANNA BE ANGELINA JOLIE WHEN I GROW UP
Actress Angelina Jolie is adopting a newborn Ethiopian girl orphaned by AIDS People magazine reported on Tuesday. Jolie, who has toured the world as goodwill ambassador for the
United Nations, said the baby would be named Zahara Marley Jolie but would not reveal the child's age, height or weight, People said.
The magazine had no further information on the baby's health but said she had been left an orphan by AIDS.
Jolie, 30, told People that she and her son Maddox, 3, who she adopted from a Cambodian orphanage, were "very happy to have a new addition to our family."
Arrangements for the adoption were expected to be completed Wednesday.
"Angie's over the moon," a source close to the actress told People. "It's a dream come true. She's always wanted to extend her family."
"Angelina's adopting as a single mother and she wants that emphasized," the source told People.
The twice-divorced Jolie has often talked of adopting a second child. After a trip to Ethiopia earlier this year, Jolie said of Maddox: "My son is in love with Africa, so he has been asking for an African brother or sister."
