FASHION AND STYLE...THE CHELSEA BOOTEver since London trendsetters co-opted it in the sixties, the elastic-sided riding boot known as the "Chelsea" has been a staple of any fab wardrobe.A lot of my male friends are definitely going to be rocking them this season,of course they're gay, wealthy, and so overly stylish that even I get tired when going out shopping with them...they are the epitome of the Chelsea Boot. Now I'm not saying that you skip the Timberlands this fall but if you're feeling a little stylish,a little classy,a little rich,a lot gay then these fit the occassion.
Here are a couple of the season's best:
Gieves and Hawkes
Price: $390Available at: Bloomingdale's SoHo, (212) 729-5900, www.gievesandhawkes.com
Rich caramel in color, butter-soft, and bench-sewn, these Gieves & Hawkes beauties combine Savile Row craftsmanship and Carnaby Street style.
Price: $495Available at: Marc Jacobs Soho, (212)343-1490, www.marcjacobs.com
The shape is rather traditional for Marc Jacobs, but the color, an ultrasmooth elephant gray, helps these Chelseas stand out among their basic black and brown competitors.
Price: $158Available at: Banana Republic stores, (888) 277-8953, www.bananarepublic.com
Banana Republic's classic version of the Chelsea boot is made of remarkably supple calfskin, especially given the price.
