NICK AND JESSICA ARE OVER...YOU DID IT MTV
After months of denying rumors their marriage had gone south, the couple yesterday confirmed to Us Weekly that they had separated.
"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," they told the magazine in a joint statement.
"This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."
The totally telegenic couple tied the knot in Austin, Tex., in October 2002 in front of 250 guests.
Lachey got his start with the boy band 98 Degrees, while Simpson was a budding pop starlet when they wed. The duo became international celebrities by televising their first years of marriage on MTV's "Newlyweds.
Though the show was wildly successful and the duo reaped newfound fame, Simpson did a bit better with it.
She released an album that earned $35 million last year and landed a starring role as short short-wearing Daisy Duke in the big-screen version of "The Dukes of Hazzard." Lachey's solo debut, meanwhile, sold a mere 105,000 copies.

PROJECT RUNAWAY... WITH MY IDEA
A man has sued the producers and sponsors of the cable reality show "Project Runway," charging that the Emmy-nominated series is based on a script of his that was rejected two years ago.
Joel Lamontagne, who filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims he pitched a show called "America's Fashion Designer Search" to producer Tony Yates at Project Greenlight in February 2003. Ultimately, he was told the company was too busy to proceed.
"We think they took this idea, promoted it and it's been a big success," said Ivan Schwartz, Lamontagne's lawyer.
Requests for comment from Greenlight went unanswered Wednesday.
HERE'S THE STORY OF A MAN NAMED BRADY...
Christopher Knight, aka Peter Brady of "The Brady Bunch," and Adrianne Curry are planning a wedding - and reality TV cameras will be there.
The couple met on VH1's "The Surreal Life" and became engaged on the season finale of "My Fair Brady." Now Knight, 48, and Curry, 23, will return for a second season of "My Fair Brady," VH1 announced Tuesday.
Curry first gained fame as the winner of "America's Next Top Model."
In a statement, Knight said love had prevailed despite "our individual quirks and flaws. ... We look forward to planning the rest of our lives together and continuing to embrace our differences on our way to the altar."
WHOOPI= BIG SALES FOR MACKIE SHOW
THE biggest seller at Tuesday's Bob Mackie auction, in size and cost, was the elaborate Queen Elizabeth costume Whoopi Goldberg (above) donned when she hosted the 1999 Academy Awards, which sold to a private collector for a whopping $22,800 (the price estimate was $3,000-$5,000). What would one do with a prize standing 8 feet tall, including a skirt 5 feet wide? "It's as big as a house," Mackie joked. "You could fit a family of four under there." Darren Julien, of Julien's Auctions, who co-presented the sale with Christie's, quipped, "You could use it in lieu of a Christmas tree. The crown could be the star."
ROCKER WITH GANGSTA RAP TENDENCIES
Bret Michaels, the frontman for lipstick-and-Aquanet rockers Poison, narrowly cheated death when a mystery gunman in a white Ford F-150 riddled his tour bus with bullets Monday night. Michaels was in Chicopee, Mass., to perform a solo acoustic set at an area club when shots hit the rear living quarters of his bus, according to a press release posted on antimusic.com. Michaels was struck in the face by flying broken glass but escaped serious injury. "It is going to take more than an act of cowardice like this to make me stop performing or stop my tour," Michaels was quoted in the release. "I plan on staying out and finishing the shows as scheduled."

BUSTA RHYMES CUTS HIS DREADS IN A COMEBACK ATTEMPT
Busta Rhymes looked a little funny sitting in a barber chair recently in New York, it was for good reason — he's not used to getting a full-blown haircut. Obviously Busta has gotten his hairline edged up over the past 16 years, but since coming into the music industry, his long dreads have been as much a part of his persona as have his growls, colorful outfits and unorthodox rhyme flows. But Busta has chosen to shed his locks, and actually cut most of his hair off. "I started growing these sh--s in December '89. I was 17. I signed my [record] deal and said I ain't combing my hair no more. I don't have to," he said. Busta isn't totally bald, though — he's rocking a dark Caesar hairstyle. You'll get to see Busta and his new 'do in his video for "Touch It" in just a couple of weeks. "My head isn't ugly, is it?" he asked with a smile after his cut. ... (VIEW CUTTING HERE)

"America's Next Top Model" winner Eva Pigford, will celebrate her 21st birthday at Lotus Tuesday night. The reality-show stunner will be treated to a jeroboam (that's way bigger than a magnum, for those of you who don't know) of Piper Heidsieck Cuvée Brut Champagne. We're told Pigford will also be gifted with a life-size portrait of herself channeling legendary chanteuse Josephine Baker by art world darling Alvaro, whose over-the-top portraiture has been commissioned by Mariah Carey, Iman and Denise Rich. Among those expected at the bash are Kanye West, Tyra Banks and Missy Elliott.
KATE MOSS' EX TO FOLLOW IN HER REHAB SLIPPERS
Rocker Pete Doherty has followed ex-gal pal Kate Moss into rehab after the supermodel begged him to seek treatment for his drug addiction. The British bad boy is said to have checked into the Meadows clinic in Arizona, where Moss was released after a 30-day stint last month, reports London's Daily Mirror. Last month, Doherty, 26, admitted Moss wanted him in rehab. "Maybe she just wants me to go through it because she's been through it," Doherty says. "It's the only time I'll have [bleeping] voluntarily gone into rehab." Meanwhile, Moss continues her catwalk comeback. She's reportedly in talks to star in an ad campaign for Virgin Mobile.
