Carlton is not just hoping to finish New York's signature road race. She wants to run a sub-four-hour time, something her personal trainer and former Olympian Michael Gostigian thinks is a slam dunk. "She's done everything according to plan and she's on track to do 3:47," says Gostigian, a pentathlete in the '88, '92 and '96 Olympic Games. "She kept up with the training. She's very disciplined and she dedicates herself to taking care of her body. I'm really proud of her because she had a rough summer with all her shows." Gostigian says that Carlton averaged 35-40 miles per week ("she peaked at about 50 miles") and that her weekly New York Sports Club workouts comprised three parts: tempo runs (hills and intervals), long runs (typically 1.5-2 hour runs) and recovery jogs (30-40 minutes).

It's almost 20 years since Whitney Houston, the biggest-selling artiste of the nineties, burst onto the music scene with Saving All My Love. Now the R'n'B star plans to take on the likes of Abba with her very own musical. Fully recovered after stints in rehab, Whitney plans a new album of original songs in early 2006, but fans will also be delighted to hear that she's sanctioned plans for a musical based on her many hits. Whitney's also planning three new movie roles next year - her first foray back onto the big screen since the nineties, when she starred in The Bodyguard. She revealed: "They may be small parts but I want roles with character now not just name pieces."

The New York Daily News reports R. Kelly is seeking $16 million from Jay-Z and his childhood buddy, Tyran (Ty Ty) Smith, who allegedly pepper-sprayed Kelly after he walked off the stage in Madison Square Garden. Kelly said he left the stage because he saw Jay-Z fans in the audience waving guns and was pepper-sprayed as he was heading back to the stage. The new suit is on top of the $75 million lawsuit filed last year after Jay kicked him off their 'Best of Both Worlds' tour. Read more.

Sister 2 Sister magazine caught up with Ray J for a Q&A and asked the brother of Brandy if he thought the entertainment industry has dealt him a fair hand when it comes to judging his musical talent and acting prowess. "Yeah, I do. I think everything that's been written about my career thus far has done me justice," he responded. "Right now, I'm focusing on developing talent and having fun with what I do. I really didn't like the scene back in the day. I was probably too young to appreciate it and I rebelled against Bran and the whole positive image thing. I wanted to flip it, go way left and be raw with my image! I'm a bad boy in a sense. I like to have fun and wild out in the clubs and party with my friends. When all the success happened for Bran, I started hanging out in the streets with the wrong crowd. We grew up in Carson, [CA], which is about three minutes away from Compton. The more Brandy succeeded, the more I started hanging with the wrong crowd and doing bad things. I got in mad trouble and ended up having to move out of the neighborhood. I speak about it on my album." Read more.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the Pussycat Dolls started dancing while waiting at Lisbon airport after the MTV Europe Music Awards in a bid to attract attention. One yelled: "Is everybody looking at us now?"

The People reports that Guy Ritchie had an argument with wife Madonna ahead of her performance on the MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon on Thursday, upset that her outfit wasn't suitable for a 47-year-old mother of two. "He wasn't happy and told her in no uncertain terms," an insider revealed. "He thinks she's too old to be wearing such skimpy things and that she should have toned it down a bit. Madonna listened to what Guy had to say but chose not to do anything about it. She went ahead and wore what she was planning to anyway. It made for a bit of an unpleasant atmosphere backstage." Russell Simmons and wife, Kimora Lee, bought a house on LA's Sunset Strip for close to $5.3 million. The gated five-bedroom, four-bathroom Mediterranean-style villa was built in 1988 on 5,800 square feet. The house is "fully equipped for entertaining," according to the Multiple Listing Service entry, complete with an outdoor kitchen, a fireplace and a pool, plus a motor court with room for five cars, in addition to a two-car garage. The couple still has an East Coast home in New Jersey. Their former 13-room, 7,000-square-foot Manhattan penthouse, famously shown on the MTV series "Cribs," was damaged in the Sept. 11 attacks but was renovated before Simmons put it on the market at $11 million in June.
