World Entertainment News Network reports that Pharrell Williams of N.E.R.D. turned down a request by Justin Timberlake to collaborate with the *NSYNC star on his second solo album, blaming Jive Records. "Justin's my boy. We got a lot of history together, we got Grammys off his album," Pharrell said. "We'll always be cool but his record label upset me so I'm not going to be on his next project. I told him not to worry - he could win more Grammys with his own solo work." Read more.

KATIE COURIC TO GO FROM MORNING COFFEE TO EVENING STABBINGS
EXPECT CBS to announce that Katie Couric will take over as anchor of "CBS Evening News" any day now. The Los Angeles Times reports, "CBS News President Sean McManus has been doggedly courting Couric to switch networks" and take Dan Rather's old slot. Her $13-million-a-year contract with NBC doesn't expire until May. Sources also say "Good Morning America" co-host Charlie Gibson will get the anchor chair of the late Peter Jennings at ABC's "World News Tonight." And, finally, look for Shelley Ross, the sidelined former exec producer of "GMA" and "Primetime Live," to replace Rick Kaplan as head of anemic MSNBC.

Catch Kathy and Matt in New York when they host the Malibu Rum party at the Mercury Bar on Ninth Avenue Dec. 8.
